Freedom of choice is the slogan. Samuel Gompers, John L. Lewis, César Chávez, and Jimmy Hoffa, to name a few, tried to improve the working conditions and the quality of life for the workers of America. In short, unions have provided hope for the working people. Nevertheless, there needs to be a balance, a common sense evenness and fairness reached between company owners (management) and the workers who do their part in making it all possible.
Congress enacted Labor Day, a legal holiday, in 1894 in recognition and honor of the working people.
An effective leader pledges to workout an equitable compromise in disputes. My desire is to serve the people by reducing antagonism among the political parties and being fair and equitable to all concerned. |
