CANDIDATE'S STATEMENT The Plumb Line
I was a candidate for Governor during the historic Recall election.  I remain resolute concerning my convictions.  I stated at that time and reiterate now, that I am a born-again Christian and try to live by the principles given in God’s Word.  I endeavor to speak the truth as clearly and accurately as it is known.  Responsibility, reliability, and dependability are the cornerstones of my platform.  Members of government must be accountable to the people and honest with everyone.

As your Governor, I will be a public servant. I am qualified to be Governor of California.  I have an AA (Liberal Arts) from Grossmont College, a BA (zoology/chemistry) and an MA (theoretical/research psychology) both from San Diego State University.  I earned my Ph.D. from California School of Professional Psychology-San Diego.  I have taught at the university level, at the Police and Fire Academy, and served on educational advisory committees.  I have published scientific articles.  I am a past president of the Inland Psychological Association and have been in private practice.  I own a small farm and have worked with Future Farmers of America (FFA) and the 4-H Clubs.  I keep myself informed by regularly attending local district water board meetings as well as city council meetings. My wife and I have been married forty-five years and have two adult children, and two grandchildren.  My wife Mary and I worship at a Spanish-speaking church.

The economy of California is problematic.  Policy decisions addressing energy and budget concerns will require strong leadership, which I have to offer.  The solutions will entail sacrifices from all Californians thus decreasing the demands on state resources.  In order to move California’s economy toward solvency, spending must decrease proportionally when income decreases.  This great state must regain and maintain the highest premium bonds with sound financial backing to allow investors the greatest security for their investment in our state.

The endangered species in California are the small business owners, working people, farmers, and the family.  High-priority must be given to teachers and education.  These need commonsense protection.

I am eternally grateful to the following persons for helping with the translations:

Prayerfully cast your vote

I have heard man’s “logic”: “Follow the money.” “Go for name recognition.” “Don’t vote for the best person; vote for someone who has a ‘chance’ to win.”

I, as recently as in the last primary election, fell prey to this thinking. Because my God is kind to me, with His grace, I came to understand the error of my thinking.

2 Chronicles 7:14                                                                        Back to Top back to top

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
